How to Unlock your Snapchat Account

We are hearing a lot of Snapchat users complaining that their account has been locked. And since so many users are complaining altogether, we cannot blame the users.

Maybe there is an issue with Snapchat. However, they haven’t made it public yet. So, what do you do till Snapchat solves the issue? You obviously don’t want to miss your snaps till Snapchat to come up with something official.

So, if you are one of those whose accounts have been locked and want their account unlocked as soon as possible, you have come to the right place. Just follow the steps given here and you will get your account unlocked.

1.       Locked-Out while Re-Visiting the Account

Some of the users are facing this unusual problem. They say that as soon as they complete sign up, or log out and then log in again, their account shows up as locked. However, in this case, Snapchat will ask you go to a link: https://snapchat.com/unlock. Just visit this link as suggested and as soon as you log in to Snapchat support, they will ask you your account details. Enter the correct details and then wait.

The team will send you a new password which you can use to log in. Later, you can change your password to a new one. A tip here would be to wait till the time they suggest. If you try to log in before the suggested time, you might get an error reading like – “Error in Unlocking the Account”.

Generally, they ask you to wait for a couple of hours. But as per one user, his account got unlocked after a day. So, for safe side, you can wait at least 6 hours before trying to log in.

2.       Locked-Out for Using 3rdParty Apps

There are many reasons people use 3rd party apps to use Snapchat. For example, Windows Phone users do not have the official app, so they use apps such as 6snap. And the official Snapchat app comes with some rules and regulations, such as it notifies the person if you try to take a screenshot of their snap. But in the 3rd party apps, they bypass these rules. So, users are tempted to try those instead.

But, this is certainly tracked by Snapchat at some point of time and they might terminate your account. In most cases, Snapchat sends a warning to the users first. But it is not guaranteed. So, if using 3rd party apps might be a reason for locking of your account, you need to uninstall the 3rd party app immediately.

And once you have uninstalled, you can go to the support link and request to unlock your account. Hopefully, they will unlock your account.

If your Snapchat does not work even after you have requested unlock from its official support and waited for enough time, you might want to hard reboot your device.

You can also try putting it into airplane mode and then turning it off. In worst case, you might want to uninstall the Snapchat app and then install it again and log in with your credentials.
